Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said on Monday that if Israel succeeds in its objectives against Iran, its influence could extend up to the borders of Pakistan. Addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq, he paid tribute to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for making Pakistan a nuclear power and criticised former president Pervez Musharraf for humiliating the national hero.
Hafiz Naeem said Pakistan should distance itself from the 'peace board' of Donald Trump, and demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif apologise to the nation for nominating Trump for the Nobel Prize. He also claimed that apart from Jamaat-e-Islami, no political party condemned the alleged firing by US Marines, deployed at the United States Consulate in Karachi, in which 10 people were reportedly martyred.
He said anyone attempting to create sectarian divisions between Shia and Sunni or speaking against Iran at this time is effectively acting as an agent of the United States and Israel. "The entire Pakistani nation stands with Iran," he said, adding that the ongoing conflict must end and that China and Russia should also play their role in de-escalating tensions in the region.
