RAWALPINDI:

Class 8 board examinations for students of all government schools across Punjab will begin on Monday, March 9, under the new system introduced by the Punjab Education Curriculum and Training Authority (PECTA).

All arrangements for the examinations have been completed and closed-circuit cameras have been installed at examination centres.

Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Tariq Mahmood said the examinations conducted under PECTA from March 9 would be made fully transparent and foolproof.

He said clear instructions had been issued to focal persons and examination staff in all tehsils of Rawalpindi district to ensure strict monitoring of the examination process.

He said the exams must be conducted in a transparent, fair and cheating-free environment so that educational standards could be improved.

Mr Mahmood added that all administrative arrangements had been reviewed and warned that strict action would be taken in case of negligence or lapses during the examination process.

The first paper of class eight - mathematics - will be held on Monday.

Students of private schools are exempted from the board examinations. The board will conduct papers for only four subjects - Urdu, English, Mathematics and Science - while examinations for remaining subjects will be conducted by schools themselves.?
