K-P government launches Women Empowerment Policy 2026–2030 on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, in collaboration with the K-P Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women Pakistan, on Wednesday launched the provincialWomen Empowerment Policy (2026–2030), aiming to advance gender equality and inclusive development in the province.
The policy was unveiled at a ceremony in Peshawar attended by government officials, development partners, and civil society members.

Speaking on the occasion, K-P Law Minister Aftab Alam said the policy is “not merely a document, but a firm commitment to safeguard women’s rights, dignity, and equal opportunities.” He added that the government is determined to strengthen legislation and ensure institutional coordination to translate the policy into tangible outcomes.
“Empowering women is crucial for sustainable development and social progress. The government will take all necessary measures to create a safe, inclusive, and enabling environment for women across all sectors,” Alam said.

Dr Sumera Shams, chairperson of the K-P Commission on the Status of Women, stressed that effective implementation, institutional alignment, and continuous monitoring are key to the policy’s success.
She said the framework reflects the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for an inclusive society where women are equal partners in development. The policy sets clear priorities and actionable measures to address gender disparities, boost women’s participation in decision-making, and ensure access to education, health, justice, and economic opportunities.

The K-P Women Empowerment Policy 2026–2030 aims to strengthen women’s rights, address existing gaps in legislation, and promote gender equality across all sectors.
It focuses on ensuring inheritance and property rights, enforcing anti-harassment laws, eliminating dowry and child marriage practices, integrating gender perspectives into education and climate policies, and improving women’s participation in decision-making.
The policy also seeks to tackle literacy gaps and institutionalise mechanisms for effective implementation, monitoring, and documentation to achieve tangible outcomes for women in the province.
It aims to mainstream gender equality across governance structures and development planning, reaffirming the province’s commitment to women’s empowerment and social justice.
