One more suspect involved in Rs9m robbery arrested

Main accused among two already in police custody; Rs3.62m recovered so far

The Preedy police have arrested one more suspect allegedly involved in a Rs9 million robbery.

According to a spokesperson for the SSP District South, the arrested suspect has been identified as Salman, son of Umar Gul. Police recovered a 125cc motorcycle used in the crime and Rs720,000 in cash from his possession.

The suspect was apprehended on the identification of his previously arrested accomplices. So far, the main accused, Asad Hussain, son of Iqbal Hussain, and Bilal alias Abdul Shah, have already been taken into custody. Police have recovered a total of Rs3.62 million from the arrested suspects.

Raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining absconding suspects, who are expected to be arrested soon.

The case was registered at Preedy police station on February 14, 2026. According to the FIR, armed motorcyclists snatched a bag containing cash from a shopkeeper near Regal Chowk in the Saddar area and fled the scene. The suspects also opened fire while escaping.

The victim, identified as Safeer Butt, a solar inverter dealer, along with his employee, was on his way to deposit Rs9 million in a nearby private bank, when the suspects, riding a motorcycle, intercepted the victim and fired shots to intimidate the shopkeeper. They snatched the cash bag at gunpoint and fled. Fortunately no one was hurt in the firing by suspects.

SHO Preedy, Ayub Mirani, had confirmed that Safeer Butt had lodged the FIR regarding the incident.
