RDA declares 294 housing societies illegal

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has declared 294 housing societies and agricultural farm schemes illegal within its jurisdiction for allegedly looting citizens of millions of rupees by offering plots on easy installments and low prices.

The authority has warned the public against buying plots or entering into any transactions with these societies and has issued a complete list of the declared illegal projects.

The chief planner of RDA has issued notices to the administrations of all such societies, prohibiting them from selling plots, advertising, or using the name of housing societies. A warning has been issued that violations will lead to registration of FIRs, arrests, and demolition of society offices.

All housing societies that have submitted applications or cases for registration and approval have been directed to immediately submit details of ownership land, layout plans, and plot information. Such societies have also been barred from advertising or selling plots until final approval. In case of violations, a grand clean-up operation has been approved, under which offices and areas of illegal and unapproved housing schemes will be bulldozed.

RDA has displayed the names of all illegal housing societies on its website and at its offices.
