The actor spoke at the Los Angeles premiere of his new animated film Hoppers, where he was asked about the clip from Your Friends & Neighbors that took social media by storm late last year. The now famous scene shows Hamm’s character, Andrew Coop Cooper, closing his eyes and losing himself on the dance floor as DJ Kato’s track Turn The Lights Off plays in the background.

The short moment quickly escaped the confines of the show and found a second life on TikTok, where users recreated the move by shutting their eyes and swaying with exaggerated intensity. Hamm, 54, made it clear he is not bothered by the attention. “It wasn’t like I got paid for it. It’s lovely, obviously. It’s nice,” he said. “It’s certainly nice to be known for something pleasant rather than something negative. I find it mystifying and adorable at the same time, but it’s fun.”

The viral moment originated in season one, episode eight of the Apple TV Plus drama, which follows a disgraced hedge fund manager who begins stealing from wealthy acquaintances after losing his high powered job.
