Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 is arriving in theaters sooner than expected.

Paramount has moved the animated sequel’s release date to August 13, 2027, shifting it up from its previously announced September 17 debut. The film follows 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which grossed $181 million worldwide and helped reinvigorate the long running franchise.

The sequel is directed by Jeff Rowe, with Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai serving as co directors. Rowe and Spears both worked on the first installment alongside producers and writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who return for the follow up. Additional producers include James Weaver, Josh Fagen and Ramsay McBean, with Lukas Williams executive producing.

The ‘TMNT’ property has become a key priority for Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, particularly under new Skydance leadership. Development on the sequel began before the first “Mutant Mayhem” even hit theaters, signaling strong studio confidence in the refreshed animated take on Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo.

Paramount is also expanding the franchise beyond the animated sequel. An untitled live action/CG hybrid ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ film is slated for Nov. 17, 2028, marking the first live action entry since 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

In addition to new films, the studio recently announced broader franchise initiatives, including a toy licensing partnership with Mattel beginning in 2027, new books inspired by the property and themed pizzerias planned for multiple international locations.

With the new August 2027 date, ‘Mutant Mayhem 2’ will now land squarely in the late summer movie season, giving the pizza loving heroes an earlier return to the big screen.
