Customs seize 30kg silver from truck at Torkham border
Customs officials at the Torkham border crossing seized 30 kilograms of silver from a truck during an operation at the Torkham Import Terminal.
Collector Ghulam Mustafa said the truck had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan and was searched at the import terminal. The silver was concealed inside the truck’s tyres.
The truck had transported an Afghan family into Afghanistan and was returning to Pakistan when it was stopped. Customs officials discovered the hidden silver during the inspection.
The silver and the truck were taken into custody by customs authorities. The recovered metal is valued at approximately Rs480 million, Collector Mustafa said.
Superintendent Customs Zia Afridi, who is posted at the Torkham border, was also involved in the operation carried out by Pakistan Customs.
