RAWALPINDI:

Water supply from Khanpur Dam to the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been reduced due to annual cleaning, repair, and maintenance work.

From today until February 15, water supply to Rawalpindi has been reduced from 19 MGD to 6 MGD, while Islamabad will receive 4 MGD instead of 9.6 MGD.

During this period, several areas may face reduced supply or partial shortages.

WASA Rawalpindi is making alternative arrangements, including the provision of additional water through tube wells and water bowsers, but public cooperation is required.

The WASA managing director has urged citizens to use water responsibly and avoid washing the floors of homes, shops, and plazas, as well as vehicles and motorcycles. Citizens have also been advised not to leave taps open or waste water in lawns and gardens.

Residents have been requested to use available water only for drinking, cooking, and other essential household needs to ensure fair distribution.

Relevant departments are working to complete maintenance work as per schedule so that normal supply can resume after February 15. Citizens may contact WASA field offices or helplines in case of complaints or emergencies.
