Woman accuses husband of pushing her into prostitution

HYDERABAD:

At 19 years of age, Areeba Gopang, thought she had found the love of her life when she escaped from her home to elope with Ramzan Rajput.

"The man for whom I gave up everything, is trying to push me into prostitution," Areeba said talking to the media at the Hyderabad Press Club on Wednesday.

Growing up in conservative Sindhi household, the daughter of Waris Gopang, dreamt of life of liberty and freedom with Ramzan, who had sweet talked her into an online relationship. Like zillions of girls of her age, she fell for the man who had promised her the moon.

"I was wrong," Areeba said, tears rolling down her eyes as she spoke to the media persons. "Ramzan showed his true colours a few days after the marriage when his brother tried to molest me and he kept quiet on my complaint."

The next time, her brother-in-law made an indecent attempt, Areeba complained to Ramzan who instead of admonishing his brother told her to keep quiet and comply. "Ramzan and his brother have been torturing me for the past three years," she claimed alleging that they now want to traffic her into prostitution. She is mother of a girl, but cannot tell if Ramzan or his brother fathered her.

Devastated, Areeba escaped from Ramzan's house and has now sought refuge at Darul Aman and filed a khula case in the court.
