PESHAWAR:

Provincial Apex Committee has decided that terrorism-affected areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will be transformed into model districts of good governance. All governmental resources will be deployed to remove deprivations in development, social services, and economic opportunities.

A structured program will deliver a special package to these regions, focusing on enhanced security, communications, health, education, employment, basic facilities, and other essential services.

On Thursday, in a display of unity, the K-P government, administration, army, and law enforcement agencies aligned on a single page to combat the escalating wave of terrorism and the menace of Fitna-al-Khawarij (a term used for extremist elements like the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan) in the province.

The decision came during a high-level Provincial Apex Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The session was attended by provincial ministers, the Peshawar Corps Commander, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and other senior civil, military, and law enforcement officials.

The meeting began with a solemn recitation of Fateha and tributes to civilians, security forces personnel, and law enforcers who have lost their lives in recent terrorist incidents.

Participants conducted an in-depth review of the growing terrorism incidents across K-P and deliberated on a comprehensive action plan to eliminate the threat, achieve complete peace, and ensure long-term stability.

The committee emphasized that success in implementing a robust counter-terrorism policy requires joint consultation, mutual cooperation, and practical coordination among all political parties, public representatives, notables, and the federal government.
