German envoy visits SKMCH&RC

German Ambassador to Pakistan Ina Lepel toured the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Lahore on World Cancer Day.

Ambassador Lepel visited different areas of the hospital, including the research facility, chemotherapy bay, acute medical unit, inpatient, playroom, as well as clinical and radiation oncology department.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Aasim Yusuf gave an overview of the hospital and guided the tour. Dr Usman Rashid, Senior Scientist in Basic Sciences Research, briefed the ambassador on breast cancer research efforts.

Following the visit, Ambassador Lepel said, “Each person affected by cancer has their unique history, needs and journey to beat this disease and nobody can fight it alone, we have to be united. Germany stands with Pakistan on this journey and today, I visited Shaukat Khanum Hospital and I am very inspired by the dedication, skill, and innovation I saw.”
