WB president visits ancestral home

World Bank President Ajay Pal Singh Banga visited his ancestral town Khushab on Tuesday and paid respects at Sikh religious heritage sites managed by the Evacuee Trust Property Board.
He was welcomed by ETPB Chairman Qamar Zaman and other officials.
The World Bank president went to his ancestral home located in the main bazaar of Khushab. The revenue record of the property was also presented to him.
Banga also visited Gurdwara Singh Sabha Khushab, which is under the administration of the board. He commended the renovation work, management arrangements and religious facilities provided at the gurdwara.
He was briefed on the steps taken for the protection, maintenance and restoration of Sikh religious heritage.
Appreciating religious freedom and the promotion of interfaith harmony in Pakistan, Banga said such initiatives help strengthen trust and mutual respect among followers of different religions. He added that he would depart with pleasant memories of Pakistan.
The ETPB chairman said the board followed international standards for the preservation of religious heritage, adding that providing facilities and hospitality to Sikh pilgrims remained a top goal.
