Pakistan's largest-ever tourism festival concludes

Event's second day sees vibrant sports activities, strong public participation

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Tourism, Sports & amp; Family Festival 2026, organized by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) in collaboration with the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Provincial Tourism Departments, and public and private sector stakeholders, concluded on a highly successful and celebratory note here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday.

The second day of the festival witnessed vibrant sports activities and strong public participation. A fun marathon and a four-kilometer cycling event was the high light of the day. Attracting large number of enthusiastic participations from all walks of life, the both events were highly enjoyed by the participants. Cash prizes of Rs 10,000 were awarded to the winners of both competitions, encouraging healthy lifestyles and community engagement through sports.

Throughout the day, the festival continued to offer a wide range of attractions, including tourism stalls, live cooking, family and kids' activities, food stalls, cultural exhibitions, provincial tourism pavilions, and live cultural performances, painting competition, display of army band, wall rock climbing, adventure base camp, street curling, paragliding, hot air ballooning, vintage car show attracted a large public crowd to the venue.

In the evening, the audience enjoyed lively cultural and musical performances of different regions of Pakistan. The event culminated with a grand musical concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display, which lit up the sky and marked a memorable conclusion to the Festival.

A large audience was present to witness the closing moments, reflecting the event's wide public appeal.Hanif Abbasi, Federal Minister for Railways, while attending the closing ceremony, appreciated the efforts of Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and the PTDC team for organizing the Pakistan Tourism, Sports & amp, Family Festival 2026, stating that this was the first time such a large-scale tourism and family sports event had been held in Islamabad.

He added that the Festival was organized on the directions of the Prime Minister and reflects the Government's strong commitment to promoting tourism and family-oriented recreational activities.Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, while commenting on the successful conclusion of the Festival, stated that the Pakistan Tourism, Sports & amp; Family Festival 2026 demonstrated the immense potential of Pakistan as a family-friendly, vibrant and welcoming tourism destination, highlighting strong public participation and cultural diversity.

Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), remarked that the successful execution of this mega event was a result of effective inter-ministerial coordination and collective efforts of all stakeholders, contributing significantly to promoting domestic tourism and social cohesion.

Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director PTDC, expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the festival and stated that PTDC is proud to have facilitated and coordinated this landmark event, first of its kind in the city of Islamabad.
