NEPRA seeks input on new net-metering law
.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has initiated the formal process for introducing new solar net-metering regulations by scheduling a public hearing on the draft Prosumer Regulations 2025, inviting stakeholders and the general public to submit their views.
The authority has fixed the application for a hearing and decided to hold a public consultation on the proposed regulations, which aim to govern consumers who both produce and consume electricity through solar systems.
The public hearing will be held on February 6, and NEPRA has invited all stakeholders and citizens to present their opinions.
A copy of the draft Prosumer Regulations 2025 has been made available on NEPRA's official website for public review.
NEPRA also held a public hearing on a request filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Thursday. The CPPA told NEPRA that national electricity consumption rose by 22 per cent compared to the same period last year, mainly due to higher demand from industrial and agricultural sectors.
