Josh Allen says becoming a dad will matter more than his NFL career
Josh Allen says becoming a dad with Hailee Steinfeld will be his “most important” role, ahead of Bills duties

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has opened up about impending fatherhood, describing it as the most meaningful role of his life as he and wife Hailee Steinfeld prepare to welcome their first child together.
Speaking at a January 29 press conference, Allen said balancing his NFL career with family life will be a learning process, but made clear where his priorities lie. “Becoming a dad is something that I will take with great pride,” the 29-year-old quarterback said. “This is the most important thing I’ll be in my life — being a dad.”
Allen, one of the NFL’s most recognizable stars, married actor and singer Hailee Steinfeld in May 2025. The couple announced in December that they are expecting their first baby. While Allen emphasized his love for football and his role leading the Bills, he noted that fatherhood now sits above everything else. “I know I love being a football player and I love being a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, but I’m looking forward to this one,” he added.
Steinfeld has shared glimpses of her pregnancy publicly, including a video of Allen kissing her baby bump that she released in her personal newsletter. She later appeared at the 2026 Golden Globes cradling her bump on the red carpet, attending the ceremony without Allen due to a Bills playoff game scheduled at the same time.
Despite the competing schedules of Hollywood and the NFL, both have expressed excitement about the new chapter. Allen said the support from teammates and friends has made the moment even more special for both him and Steinfeld as they prepare for life as new parents.
