Dual CDA post case fixed for hearing
.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday directed that the petition challenging the appointment of a single officer to hold the dual posts of Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Chief Commissioner be fixed for hearing on February 20.
The court, however, rejected the request to suspend, with immediate effect, the notification appointing one officer to both positions.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard a miscellaneous application seeking an early hearing of the case. The petitioner's counsel, Riaz Hanif Rahi, appeared before the court in person and contended that under the law enacted in 1960, the office of the CDA Chairman has functioned independently and is governed by its own distinct legal framework.
