Body formed to ensure boiler safety
.

Following a boiler explosion at a hotel in Lahore, the Punjab government has formed district-level committees across the province to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The bodies will ensure registration and safety measures of boilers installed in major multistorey buildings, hotels, hospitals, industrial units, and other structures.
Each committee, headed by the deputy commissioner, will submit its inspection and registration report to the director general industries within three days.
According to officials, a notification issued by the Punjab Government's Services and General Administration Department stated that the deputy commissioner would serve as the convener of the committee, while members would include the district police officer, additional deputy commissioner concerned, assistant commissioner, district officer civil defence, district officer rescue, district officer industries, and inspector of boilers.
Every building where a boiler is installed will be registered and issued a prescribed proforma, in which details regarding the boiler's usage and safety measures will be provided to the district committee.
The notification further stated that each deputy commissioner would also constitute committees at the tehsil level under the supervision of an assistant commissioner or a Grade-17 officer to ensure boiler safety measures and registration in every building.
