JARANWALA:

Police claimed to have arrested three suspects accused of brutally assaulting a man inside his residence and dragging him through a market, after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Police said the incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Saddar Jaranwala police station in Chak 108-GB.

The victim, identified as Abdul Salam, son of Abdul Ghafoor, had recently been released from jail in a previous fight-related case.

Police said that soon after his release, he allegedly opened fire at the house of his rivals.

In retaliation, suspects Mohsin, Tariq alias Taro, and Sufyan, along with others, allegedly entered Abdul Salam's haveli, subjected him to severe torture using sticks and clubs, and then dragged him by his legs into the market, where he was publicly humiliated.

A video of the assault circulated widely on social media, prompting City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad Sahibzada Bilal Umar to take notice and order immediate arrests.

Acting on the directives, SHO Saddar Jaranwala Muzaffar Khokhar conducted raids and arrested the three main suspects within hours.

They have been locked up, while efforts are underway to apprehend other fleeing suspects.

The CPO stated that the rule of law would be upheld and no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. "No individual is above the law," he said.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the law on the state's complaint.
