Cameron Smotherman has provided an update after a frightening incident at the official weigh-ins for UFC 324, assuring fans that he is in good health.

The 28-year-old bantamweight collapsed moments after successfully making weight Friday morning, stumbling off the scale before falling face-first on stage. Smotherman remained down for several minutes and was later assisted off the stage by his coach and UFC security before being transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Footage of the incident quickly circulated on social media, sparking widespread concern well beyond the MMA community. Several hours later, Smotherman addressed the situation in a video shared to his Instagram story, saying he was “completely OK” and appreciative of the support he received.

Smotherman explained that the collapse was not the result of a severe weight cut, pushing back against speculation online. He said he cut very little weight for the fight and entered fight week already close to the limit. While the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, Smotherman noted that additional medical tests are planned in the coming weeks.

As a result of the incident, Smotherman’s scheduled preliminary card bout against fellow Texan Ricky Turcios was canceled. Smotherman apologized to his opponent and expressed hope that he will be cleared to fight again in the near future.
