ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of September 23 titled “Pakistan is ours too”.
There can be no two opinions that all our misfortunes, all our calamities, all the mindless bloodshed and inhuman atrocities that have haunted our country, stem from our waging and supporting jihad as an instrument of foreign policy. As long as this policy is in place, turning around the country for a better future is out of the question.
Have we ever undertaken any soul-searching as to why we have taken it upon ourselves to chart and articulate Afghanistan’s future? This is an important question. In our quest to make Afghanistan a client state or a fifth province, we have created immense problems for ourselves. Now is the time to sever the pernicious umbilical cord with our strategic assets. Mr Shafi’s article, as always, was excellent and embodied true patriotism and deep love for the country.
