HYDERABAD:

Workers of Jeay Sindh Tehreek and JSSF Arisar staged a protest outside Hyderabad Press Club against alleged torture of nationalist activists in prisons and their transfer to jails in other cities. Following the demonstration, the activists observed a symbolic hunger strike.

The protest was led by JSSF leader Abdul Fattah Channa, Jeay Sindh Tehreek Chairman Sorhiya Sindhi, and Imtiaz Mirani. Demonstrators raised slogans against the Hyderabad Central Jail administration, accusing officials of subjecting detained activists-including Mehran Mirani, Sohail Mirani, Adnan Balo, Javed Mangrio, and Faraz Chandio-to violence before secretly transferring them to different prisons across Sindh. Families of the detainees, they said, have been left in distress due to lack of information about their whereabouts.

Speakers warned that shifting the activists out of Hyderabad would obstruct ongoing trials in local courts. They threatened to stage an indefinite sit-in outside the jail if the detainees were not returned to Hyderabad Central Jail.

Meanwhile, tension escalated when Raja Bhatti, brother of nationalist activist Sani Bhatti, fainted in the premises of the Sessions Court after learning of his sibling's transfer to another city's prison. He was immediately rushed to hospital.

The nationalist leaders attending the public meetings organized to celebrate the 122nd birth anniversary of late G M Syed, the founder of Jeay Sindh Tehreek, have been booked in an FIR for raising anti state slogans. The case has been lodged on the state's complaint at Sann police station in Jamshoro district, nominating 41 nationalist leaders with their names.

In addition to seven sections of Pakistan Penal Code, including 124 A 125 A, 153 A, 147, 148 and 149, section 6/7 of Anti-Terrorism Act has also been inserted in the FIR registered on complaint of ASI Badaruddin Kahoro. Sindh United Party's leader Syed Zain Shah, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz's Sanan Qureshi, Jeay Sindh Mahaz's Riaz Ali Chandio, JSQM's Niaz Kalani, Aslam Khaskheli and Roshan Buriro are among those booked.
