Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Switzerland on Tuesday to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Conference 2026.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a Swiss-based non-governmental organisation that brings together leaders from the political, business, academic, and cultural sectors to discuss global issues. The annual conference, held in Davos, serves as a platform for world leaders and executives to address economic challenges, global policies, and innovative solutions. The event is taking place from Monday to Friday.

PM Shehbaz was received at the Zurich International Airport by Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Muhammad Bilal, Pakistan's Ambassador to Switzerland Marghoub Saleem and Pakistan's diplomatic staff in Switzerland.

The premier said he had arrived to advance Pakistan’s engagement at the forum with global trade and investment partners.

"Pakistan’s ongoing economic reform journey is unlocking profound opportunities, driven by a resilient and entrepreneurial workforce and significant potential across energy, agriculture, minerals, and emerging technologies. We are ready to harness this potential into mutually beneficial economic cooperation and long-term investment."

The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema, Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.

A statement from the PM Office said the premier will highlight reforms being taken by the government to strengthen economic stability, along with the country's improving economic indicators.

The prime minister's visit will include diplomatic and economic engagements, with several bilateral meetings scheduled with heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organisations.

A key element of the visit will be the Business Roundtable, jointly organised by Pakistan and the WEF, which will bring together leaders from major global companies looking to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan or expand their existing investments.
