Ashton Kutcher praises Demi Moore’s performance in 'The Substance' in rare public comment
Ashton Kutcher has spoken publicly about ex-wife Demi Moore, praising her acclaimed performance in 'The Substance'

Ashton Kutcher has made a rare public comment about his former wife Demi Moore, offering praise for her recent film work and reflecting on broader themes raised by her latest role.
The actor shared his remarks during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, where he was asked about Moore’s performance in the body-horror film The Substance.
Kutcher directly acknowledged the recognition Moore has received for the role, saying, “Demi’s performance in The Substance, obviously, she got extraordinary accolades. I’m so proud of her.” He added, “She killed it.”
The comments mark one of the few times Kutcher has spoken publicly about Moore since their divorce, which was finalised more than a decade ago.
In the same interview, Kutcher discussed how the themes explored in The Substance, particularly those surrounding beauty, ageing and appearance, reflect changes he has observed in society.
He noted that attitudes towards cosmetic procedures have shifted significantly over the past 20 years. “It used to be like braces on your teeth were the only acceptable cosmetic enhancement,” he said, adding that other procedures were once judged far more harshly.
Kutcher suggested that public perceptions have gradually changed, with greater emphasis now placed on individual choice and personal wellbeing.
He said that if cosmetic procedures make someone feel happy, that outcome matters more than the aesthetic result, describing this as a “gradual adjustment of societal norms”.
His comments also coincided with discussion of his own upcoming project, The Beauty, which similarly examines society’s fixation on physical perfection.
While Kutcher and Moore’s relationship ended years ago, he has previously stated that there is “no badness” between them, including with Moore’s daughters.
By publicly acknowledging Moore’s work and success, Kutcher’s remarks highlight a continued sense of mutual respect between the former couple, even as they pursue separate careers and projects.
