KARACHI:

A fire broke out at a restaurant located on Tipu Sultan Road, reducing goods worth a significant amount to ashes. Firefighters faced difficulties due to heavy smoke filling the premises. No casualties were reported, while an assessment of the financial losses is underway.

The fire suddenly erupted in the kitchen of the restaurant on Monday afternoon. The staff initially attempted to control the blaze on their own, but failed to contain it as the intensity increased and thick smoke spread throughout the restaurant. All employees were safely evacuated from the building.

Upon receiving information, police and representatives of welfare organizations reached the scene. KMC Fire Brigade and Rescue 1122 teams also arrived promptly and began firefighting operations.

Fire Brigade Officer Muhammad Zafar said the fire originated in the kitchen and spread through ducting to the washroom on the first floor. Due to dense smoke, rescue operations were hampered. However, the fire was brought under control with the help of three fire tenders. He confirmed that no loss of life occurred in the incident, while the extent of financial damage is being estimated.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a fire broke out in stored items at the Railway Ground on I.I. Chundrigar Road, resulting in the burning of decoration materials. A fire brigade vehicle managed to control the blaze.

Fire breaks out at factory

A fire broke out on the roof of a factory located in Phase 2 of the SITE Super Highway Industrial Area, Ahsanabad, rapidly intensifying within minutes.

Thick black smoke billowed from the site and was visible from several kilometers away, causing concern in surrounding areas.

Upon receiving information about the blaze, fire brigade and Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot with fire tenders and immediately began firefighting operations. According to a Rescue 1122 spokesperson, the fire erupted on the roof of a ground-plus-two-storey building and quickly engulfed the entire rooftop area.

KMC Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan said the fire started in a shed constructed on the building's roof, where thread cones, machinery, and other materials were stored. A total of four fire tenders participated in the operation. After nearly an hour of strenuous efforts, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and initiated the cooling process, which was completed shortly afterward.

He added that the fire was contained before it could spread further. As a result of the incident, the rooftop shed and the machinery and materials stored inside were completely gutted. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported.

The exact cause of the fire and the extent of financial losses could not be immediately determined.
