Jessica Jung performs Girls’ Generation songs 12 Years after exit from K-pop group
Jessica Jung returned to songs from her Girls’ Generation era for the first time in more than a decade during her Reflections concert in Malaysia on Sunday, January 11.
The South Korean-American singer surprised fans at the Arena Of Stars by performing a medley of Girls’ Generation hits, marking her first time singing the group’s music publicly since her departure in 2014. The set included well-known tracks such as "Gee", "Genie", "The Boys" and "Into The New World", with the audience responding with coordinated fanchants throughout the performance.

Jung, now 36, delivered both vocals and choreography with ease, prompting emotional reactions from concertgoers. Another moment that drew cheers came during a video segment highlighting her career achievements, which featured images of the other Girls’ Generation members.
“This show isn't just about who I am right now,” Jung told the audience while explaining the meaning behind the concert’s title. “It's about every version of me I've been... It's not about erasing the past or forgetting about it; it's about embracing everything and all the memories we shared, every lesson and all the dreams we had together. I carry them with me and they make me stronger.”
Clips from the concert quickly spread across social media, attracting millions of views within hours. Fans of Girls’ Generation’s original nine-member lineup shared emotional responses online.
Jessica Jung debuted with Girls’ Generation in 2007 alongside Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. The group became one of K-pop’s most influential acts before Jung announced her dismissal in 2014. SM Entertainment later cited scheduling conflicts related to her business activities.
Jung left the agency in 2015 and has since released solo music and novels. With Girls’ Generation’s 20th anniversary approaching in 2027, fans are increasingly speculating whether her recent performance could signal a future reunion.
