Kat Dennings has reflected on the legacy of 2 Broke Girls as the sitcom approaches its 15th anniversary, saying she remains hopeful that the series could one day return for a proper conclusion.

The comedy first aired in September 2011 and followed two friends, Max Black and Caroline Channing, as they navigated financial struggles while working towards opening a cupcake business.

The show ran for six seasons before being cancelled in 2017, ending on a cliffhanger that left the story unresolved.

Dennings, who played Max, spoke about the milestone during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Reacting to the upcoming anniversary, she said, “That makes me feel very existential and very aged. Clearly, um, I need to do some self reflection.”

She added, “I need to dig the waitress uniform out of my storage unit, see if it still fits, it probably will not, but wow, that is truly insane.”

Despite the abrupt ending, Dennings indicated that she has not ruled out a return to the series. Addressing the lack of closure, she said, “I know, we were robbed of our, like, wrap-up. It ended on a cliffhanger, which was so sad for everybody. Maybe some day there’ll be, like, a reboot. They’re rebooting things now, so maybe—maybe someday.”

2 Broke Girls developed a large following, particularly among millennial viewers, and became known for its fast-paced humour and central performances.

While no reboot has been announced, the actress’s remarks suggest the door remains open as the series approaches its 15-year mark.
