Abbottabad ramps up crackdown on illegal mining

Two machines were found operating in the Block-IV despite the mining lease having expired nearly three months ago

ABBOTTABAD:

The district administration has seized approximately 100 tonnes of illegally extracted phosphate during a clampdown against illegal mining activities.

On the instructions of Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner, Sarmad Saleem Akram, decisive action is being taken against illegal mining activities across the district.

Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad, Afrasiab Zubair Hindal, conducted an inspection of the Tarnwai mining area, where approximately 100 tonnes of illegally extracted phosphate were seized.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Additional Director Mines (Technical and Surveillance) and Police Station Mangal.

During the inspection, two machines were found operating in the Block-IV despite the mining lease having expired nearly three months ago.
