Finance committee approves funds for church, cathedral

Gives go ahead for 7th KLF, other projects including road repairs

KARACHI:

Sindh Cabinet Finance Committee on Monday approved release of 25 per cent of the approved funds for the repair and upkeep of St Saviour Church Sukkur and St Thomas Cathedral Hyderabad.

A meeting of the Sindh Cabinet's Finance Committee was held on Monday. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani, and Provincial Minister for Home Affairs Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar.

Approval was granted for 25 per cent funds for the Universities and Boards' non-ADP schemes. For the projects of St Saviour Church Sukkur and St Thomas Cathedral Hyderabad, 25 per cent of Rs219 million was approved.

The Finance Committee also approved the holding of the 7th Karachi Literature Festival. An amount of Rs100 million was approved for the Sindh Archives' outside-budget allocation. Approval was given for a 3-kilometre link road (Bego Kaka) in Taluka Saeedabad, District Matiari. An amount of Rs102 million was approved for the purchase of vehicles and other requirements in the Home Department. Half of the allocated funds out of Rs22 million were approved for the Planning and Development Department.

The committee also approved a training programme for officers of Sindh Local Government, Housing and Town Planning. Approval was granted for Rs162 million for the ADP Scheme 2024-25 of District Sujawal, as well as approval for the ADP scheme of Sari Ghat Wari Darbar, Shikarpur.
