Asim hails his 'best and toughest year'

Singer Asim Azhar has closed out 2025 by notching his first-ever number one song on Pakistan's weekly music charts, calling the milestone the culmination of a year defined by graft, self-belief and uncomfortable honesty.
In an emotional Instagram post, the 29-year-old wrote: "We did it. We finally did it. I have my first #1 song on the weekly charts in the country." He described the achievement as the latest high point in what he termed a rollercoaster year.
Azhar said 2025 had already brought his first viral chart-topper, his first daily number one and his debut entry on global charts, alongside the largest number of pre-saves ever recorded for a Pakistani album, before the weekly crown finally arrived.
Reflecting in Urdu, he said he had "learnt a lot, brother", adding that the success was no coincidence. He explained that he had deliberately tried to act with truthfulness in every sphere, whether in music or everyday life.
With a touch of humour, he admitted to telling the truth about small things too, like saying he was not five minutes away but actually twenty. He said that being honest with himself and others had become his biggest lesson. Azhar stressed that the year was both the best and possibly the toughest of his life, saying the struggles were what shaped its meaning. He also thanked God, noting simply that he was grateful to Allah for the journey.
He offered heartfelt thanks to loved ones who loved him, supported him, worked with him and overlooked his flaws, praying that they remain part of his life in the years ahead as his career continues to evolve.
Signing off, he urged fans never to think it is too late to pursue their plans. He said hard work, trust in the process and pure intentions can still yield surprises, declaring that 2026 "has no idea what's coming."
