Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock criticises record label over delayed release of debut solo album

Pinnock has gone independent after Warner Records declined to move forward with her album, citing a lack of budget

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has publicly criticised her former record label, accusing it of refusing to release her debut solo album and prompting her decision to go independent.

The Little Mix member shared her claims in an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, reflecting on her experiences over the past year.

In the video, Pinnock alleged that Warner Records declined to move forward with her album, My Ego Told Me To, citing a lack of budget. She said the decision led her to take control of her own career and release the project independently. “So, long story short, the label have said no, basically. They don’t have the budget to put my album out. So I’m ready to just take the reins. It will be a new chapter and I just can’t wait. And I’m leading this sh*t,” she said.

Pinnock expanded on the message in the post’s caption, framing the situation as a lesson in self-belief. “Proof that when you trust and back yourself, doors open,” she wrote. “Reflecting back on this year, I learned that if something is holding you back, stand up and leave.” She continued, “You are capable. You are powerful. Don’t shrink for anyone. You are enough. You always were.”

After Little Mix went on an indefinite hiatus, Pinnock signed with Warner Records in 2022. She departed the label in May 2025 and later joined Virgin Music Group as an independent artist. Since making the move, she has released several singles.

My Ego Told Me To, is scheduled for release on February 20, 2026, alongside plans for a headline tour. It remains unclear when the album was initially intended to be released under Warner Records.

At the time of publication, Warner Records has not responded publicly to Pinnock’s allegations.
