Jessie J shares tearful reflection on "heavy" year amid breast cancer journey
"None of us are meant to be happy and positive all the time," she wrote on Instagram

Singer Jessie J has shared an emotional reflection on what she described as a “heavy and hard” year as she continues her breast cancer journey. The 37-year-old posted a tearful selfie on social media, opening up about the emotional weight she has been carrying while stepping back from work and focusing on her health.
“This year has been heavy,” Jessie J wrote, admitting that she has recently allowed herself to fully feel emotions she had been holding in. “I’ve been crying a lot. Probably the lowest I have felt in a while,” she shared candidly, emphasising that the past months have taken a significant emotional toll.
The singer explained that this is the first time in years she has slowed down enough to truly process everything she has been through. “I’m not superhuman,” she wrote. “None of us are meant to be happy and positive all the time.” Jessie J encouraged others not to suppress their feelings, adding that allowing space for sadness and vulnerability is an important part of healing.
Reflecting on the year as a whole, she described it as both deeply challenging and unexpectedly meaningful. “It’s been one of the hardest years of my life, but also one of the most magical,” she said, urging her followers to show compassion to themselves and others. “If you’re crying, cry. It’s OK.”
Jessie J previously revealed that she underwent surgery following her breast cancer diagnosis and that additional medical procedures are still ahead as part of her recovery. Despite the ongoing challenges, she expressed gratitude for life and for the ability to stay present. “I’m grateful to be here,” she wrote, adding that sharing her journey openly has helped her feel less alone.
