100 e-bus shelters approved to upgrade transit system
Monitoring cell launched under 'Hello Faisalabad' to address public issues

The Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) has approved the establishment of 100 electric bus shelters on two major routes in Faisalabad at an estimated cost of Rs140 million, marking another step towards improving public transport infrastructure in the city.
The approval was granted during an important meeting of the DDWP chaired by Commissioner Faisalabad Raja Jahangir Anwar.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir, Additional Commissioners Tanveer Murtaza and Asif Iqbal Chauhan, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation Malik Murtaza, Deputy Director Development Syed Naveed Iqbal, Superintendent Highways, and other concerned officers.
Briefing the meeting, officials said the project aims to provide modern, weather-protected facilities for commuters using electric buses, in line with the Punjab government's vision of promoting eco-friendly and sustainable transport.
The commissioner directed the contractor concerned to accelerate construction work and ensure that activities are carried out in three shifts.
He set a firm deadline for the completion of 40 bus shelters by January 10, 2026, and warned that no delay would be tolerated.
Raja Jahangir Anwar said he would personally monitor the progress of the project and stressed that the chief minister of Punjab had issued clear and strict instructions for the timely completion of the initiative.
He urged all departments involved to fully discharge their responsibilities to meet the deadlines.
During the meeting, the commissioner was also briefed on measures being taken by the divisional administration to address public complaints more effectively.
Officials informed that a Monitoring Cell has been established at the Commissioner's Office under the initiative "Hello Faisalabad," which formally began operations on Saturday. Under the initiative, two monitors have been appointed from each tehsil of Faisalabad district.
They will conduct field visits to identify issues related to WASA, PHA, FDA, the Municipal Corporation, the Board of Intermediate Education, the Environmental Protection Department, and the Punjab Food Authority.
The collected information will be forwarded to the Monitoring Cell, which will then coordinate with the relevant departments for prompt resolution.
