Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods have announced their engagement, marking a milestone in their five-year relationship.

The New York Knicks star proposed to Woods on Thursday, December 25, shortly after the Knicks secured a narrow 126-124 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden.

The couple shared the news on Instagram, posting photos from the proposal at Overstory, a rooftop venue in New York City, alongside the caption, “Marry Christmas 🎄❤️💍.”

Images from the post show Towns down on one knee as Woods reacts, dressed in a white coat and matching dress, with her hair styled in a sleek ponytail. Towns wore a suede jacket with black trousers for the occasion. The pair have been dating since 2020 and confirmed their relationship publicly later that year.

Although they had known each other for years through mutual connections, Towns has previously explained how their friendship deepened into a romantic relationship. “Me and Jordyn met years ago knowing common people and just became friends,” he said. “And ever since then, our relationship grew where we became more than friends. I'm not saying in that way, but just best friends.”

Their relationship developed during a challenging period, including the death of Towns’ mother, Jacqueline, in April 2020. The pair connected over the loss of a parent, as Woods’ also lost her father to cancer in 2017.

Last month, on his 30th birthday, Woods gifted Towns the exact make and model of the car his mother used to drive.
