DHA blast: Sketch of suicide bomber prepared

One of the injured policemen deputed to protect CID SSP Chaudhry Aslam has provided the description of the suicide bomber to the investigation team and a rough sketch has also been prepared, police sources say

“He saw a young bearded man drive a Suzuki pick-up truck turn towards the lane in which Aslam’s house is located and approach the escort vehicles in front of the gate of the house just moments before the blast,” a senior officer said. Since the survivor saw the attacker only for a few seconds before the blast took place, his description is still hazy.

However, on Thursday, the police team made the sketch of the bomber with the help of this description given by the survivor. “Our man is still recovering from the blast and despite the fact that he’s done his best in helping us prepare the sketch, we’re not too happy with the result,” an officer told The Express Tribune.

DIG South Commander Shaukat, who is heading the police team, said the Wednesday night meeting looked into all possible aspects of the blast and considered the evidence on the ground. “A case of this nature takes time and all officers have been directed to carry on with their investigation without getting bothered with the FIA claims that it was not a suicide attack,” he said.
