Karachi police set to launch crackdown on fancy, green number plates
In each district, teams will conduct checks, consisting of officers from CPLC, excise, traffic and district police

Karachi Police is set launch a massive operation across Karachi to target vehicles violating traffic laws, particularly those with illegal fancy and green number plates.
The campaign was announced by Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho, aims to tackle the misuse of number plates and other traffic offenses. Odho stated that the operation would begin on Friday, and would involve checking vehicles at various locations across the city.
In each district, two teams will be conducting checks, consisting of officers from the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), excise department, traffic police, and district police.
It has been observed that some vehicle owners are using illegal tactics to avoid e-challans, including the use of fake number plates or hiding their number plates to escape detection. Additionally, various logos are being placed on number plates to bypass traffic laws. These practices will no longer be tolerated.

As part of the crackdown, authorities will not only seize vehicles and motorcycles involved in violations but will also file cases against offenders. The police chief emphasized that anyone caught using fake or hidden number plates would face legal action, with no exceptions.

In the past, criminals have been known to use fake number plates for illicit activities, a practice that will no longer be allowed. The campaign is a direct effort to curb traffic law violations and improve public safety on Karachi’s streets.
