Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday carried out an extensive visit to review progress on several major development and transport infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility in Karachi.
Accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Syed Qasim Naveed and Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, the chief minister inspected works on Shahrah-e-Bhutto, the Korangi Causeway Bridge junction, Malir River bridges, flyovers in Malir, and the BRT Red Line and Green Line corridors. He received detailed briefings from project officials and concerned departments.
Terming the schemes long-term investments, Murad Shah said the projects were crucial for Karachi's economic growth, traffic management and quality of life. "There will be no compromise on quality, transparency or timelines," he said.
At the Korangi Causeway Bridge junction of Shahrah-e-Bhutto, a Rs1.89 billion project under the Sindh Local Government Department, the CM was informed that 40 per cent work had been completed since construction began on October 1, 2025. The project comprises four loops, four slip roads and a total length of 2.7 kilometres. Murad Shah directed officials to expedite work, noting that the causeway frequently submerges during monsoons, causing traffic disruptions. He also stressed the need for safety measures and alternative routes during construction.
The chief minister later inspected the N-5 bridge over the Malir River near Murghi Khana, a Rs2.92 billion project launched on March 20, 2025, and scheduled for completion by March 2026.
