Sharif also directed that work begin immediately on a 100MW solar project in Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure a stable supply of clean electricity. He said the welfare and economic development of the region remain among the federal government’s top priorities and that steps are being taken to promote industrial activity, investment and broader economic development there.

The prime minister commended recommendations from the committee led by Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal and the Ministry of Power on resolving electricity issues, and instructed the ministry to ensure effective implementation of the comprehensive strategy covering immediate, short-term and long-term measures.

Officials briefed the meeting that steps are underway to ensure electricity supply for domestic and commercial consumers in Gwadar.
