Sydney Sweeney is addressing speculation that she has undergone cosmetic surgery, confirming in a new interview that she has not had any procedures.

Speaking with Amanda Seyfried for Allure, Sweeney said, “Let’s debunk them all. I mean, I have never gotten work done. I am so scared of needles, you have no idea.”

Seyfried noted that cosmetic procedures can be “really effective once you get older,” but Sweeney repeated that she is “too scared of needles.” She also commented on the tendency of social media users to compare photographs from her childhood to images taken today. “You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting. Of course I’m going to look different. Everybody on social media’s insane,” she said.

Sweeney added that she would contact Seyfried if she ever chose to pursue surgery. Seyfried responded, “You gotta call me, and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you’ll be so excited. But you don’t need it yet.” Sweeney replied, “No. Also, if I did, you guys, my face would be even.”

She went on to explain that a childhood wakeboarding accident that required 19 stitches caused one eyelid to open “a little more than the other.” Seyfried said, “I still don’t see it, but there’s an art to it. You can’t just get it everywhere, like a lot of people do. You don’t need it.”

Sweeney has spoken openly about her relationship with her body, telling Women’s Health in 2023 that she aims to be her own role model.
