PHC orders JIT in disappearance of 7 men
.

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Inspector General of Police to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the disappearance of seven individuals from the jurisdiction of Tehkal Police Station. With these directions, the court disposed of the petition and issued a written order.
According to the three-page order authored by Chief Justice SM Atiq Shah, the petitioner stated that seven men, Noorullah, Hanifullah, Mohammad Adnan, Gohar Zaman, Habib, Syed Irfanullah and Farmanullah, went missing from Peshawar and sought their recovery and production before the court.
The petitioner further requested that authorities clarify under which law the individuals were taken.
Additional Advocate General Naumanul Haq Kakakhel informed the court that a case regarding the disappearances had been registered at Tehkal Police Station, adding that the FIR pertained to the alleged kidnapping of the seven men by unknown persons. The petitioner, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the police investigation and alleged that the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) was himself involved in the matter.
The petitioner argued that officers working under the CCPO could not conduct an impartial investigation and therefore requested the formation of a Joint Investigation Team.
