Islamabad Bar Association condemns denial of defence to Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chattha
Bar demanded that she be given a fair chance to state their position

The Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) on Friday condemned the denial of an opportunity for Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha to present their defence in the controversial tweets case, announcing a strike today (Saturday).
The Bar demanded that both individuals be given a fair chance to state their position. The case against Iman Mazari and Chattha regarding the disputed tweets has intensified, prompting the IBA to declare the strike.
In its official statement, the Bar said that it strongly deplores the failure to grant Mazari and Chattha an opportunity to defend themselves. "Our demand is that they be allowed to present their stance. Denying the accused the right to a defence is a direct contradiction of the principles of effective justice," the statement read.
The communiqué further noted that the situation has caused considerable concern among the IBA members, as well as within the wider legal fraternity. It added that the Islamabad Bar Association stands firmly alongside its esteemed members.
