Deadpool & Wolverine budget revealed in new UK tax filings
New UK tax documents have revealed major financial details about Deadpool & Wolverine

Newly released tax documents from the United Kingdom indicate that Disney and Marvel Studios spent more than $533 million producing Deadpool & Wolverine, making it one of the most expensive films ever made, according to Dark Horizons.
Forbes reported that financial statements dated through October 31, 2024 — roughly three months after the film’s theatrical debut — show the final production costs surpassing the original budget, ultimately totaling $533.7 million. The report notes that the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes significantly disrupted production, contributing to the inflated expenses.
Disney reportedly received $104.7 million in tax credits and reimbursements, lowering the studio’s net cost to approximately $429 million.
Despite its massive price tag, Deadpool & Wolverine generated $1.34 billion at the global box office. Industry estimates suggest Disney retained around $670 million of that total, resulting in a box-office profit of about $241 million. However, marketing costs — estimated at a minimum of $100 million and likely closer to $200 million due to the film’s extensive worldwide promotional push — substantially reduced that profit margin.
According to the report, the film was only marginally profitable in theaters, with aftermarket sales such as home video contributing the bulk of its eventual financial gain.
