RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab government has sanctioned the creation of new Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) offices in an additional three districts of the Rawalpindi Division — Attock, Chakwal and Talagang — in order to ensure reliable household water supply, upgrade sewerage infrastructure, and improve system maintenance.

A broader decision has also been taken to establish WASA offices in 22 districts overall, raising the total number of agencies across the province to 39.

Managing Directors, engineers, and other officers for the newly constituted agencies are scheduled to be appointed during the first ten days of December.

The districts where new WASA offices will be established include Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Taunsa Sharif, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Wazirabad, Talagang, Lodhran, Vehari, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Chakwal, Attock, Chiniot, and Toba Tek Singh.

In the second phase, Parks and PHAs will also be set up in these major cities.

Adil | 2 weeks ago | Reply I would like to bring to apprise WASA MD through your esteemed forum that for the past several months the residents of Mouza Gangal particularly those residing in Street No. 11 Sangar Town have been facing severe scarcity of water. The irregular and insufficient supply has caused significant hardship to the residents. Despite paying WASA bills regularly and without default the community is now being forced to rely on expensive private water tankers which most residents cannot afford. Authorities concerned to kindly look into this matter and take necessary action to restore a regular and adequate water supply to the affected area.
