Superintendent of Adiala Jail has submitted a detailed response regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s request to have his X account suspended by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Tuesday, concluding that the account is being operated from outside the jail.

The report was issued in response to a petition filed by citizen Ghulam Murtaza, filed through Advocate Barrister Zafarullah, requesting the removal and blocking of the PTI founder’s allegedly illegal and malicious tweets.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) had sought responses from the NCCIA, the jail superintendent, and other concerned parties.

The petition seeks to prevent the posting and dissemination of alleged content from the X account during imprisonment.

According to jail authorities, the perception that Imran's X account is being operated from inside the jail is incorrect, and all related speculation is baseless. The Superintendent clarified in his response that the PTI founder is under strict surveillance in jail, and the question of his having access to any prohibited item, including a mobile phone, does not arise.

The report further stated that no prohibited items, including mobile phones, are permitted under jail rules. Mobile signal jammers have been installed within Adiala Jail, ensuring that mobile signals inside and around the jail remain completely blocked.

The Superintendent added that Imran and the staff assigned to him are subjected to constant searches, making access to any prohibited facility impossible. Under Jail Rule 265, Imran is also restricted from political discussions; however, during jail trials, family members and lawyers visiting him do occasionally engage in political debates in violation of the law.

The report noted that in the past, political instructions given by the PTI founder from jail had, on several occasions, incited violence in society. However, his X account is not being operated from inside the jail.

He further stated that the account is being operated from outside the jail, as neither mobile phones nor internet facilities are available inside. The PTI founder only has access to facilities permitted under jail rules or as ordered by the court.
