Sajjad Ali’s concert brings the best of 90s music back to Karachi

The performance drew thousands to the Arts Council

KARACHI:

The 23rd day of the World Culture Festival at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, turned nostalgic as legendary singer Sajjad Ali’s musical concert took the audience back to the golden era of 90s music.

Thousands of fans flocked to watch his performance, while many were unable to enter due to the venue reaching full capacity.

Addressing the audience, Ali said, “I am Pakistani, I love Pakistan, and this country has given me respect.” He added that people initially told him some of his songs didn’t fit current trends, but, in his words, “An artist is the one who creates trends, not the one who runs after them.”

Ali is regarded as one of Pakistan’s top singers, composers, and songwriters. Emerging in the 1980s, his unique blend of classical and pop music earned him immense popularity nationwide. His songs continue to resonate with both young and older listeners.

The World Culture Festival will continue at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi until December 7.
