Over a thousand Chinese experts and scholars convened on Saturday for the Fourth China Space Science Assembly, engaging in discussions on the latest advancements, major achievements, and emerging trends in space science.

The four-day conference features an opening ceremony, 14 invited reports, a roundtable on international cooperation, an international symposium, and close to 50 specialized academic sessions.

During the invited reports segment, 14 academicians and senior experts presented updates on China's manned space program, lunar and deep space exploration projects, space science satellite missions, and future development roadmaps.

A highlight of the conference is the roundtable on international cooperation. Panelists emphasized that international collaboration is essential for the advancement of space science. They acknowledged China's breakthroughs in multiple space science fields and called for enhanced global cooperation to maximize scientific output and contribute to human knowledge.

The international symposium focuses on the theme of "earth space observation and disaster precursor physics." Dozens of scientists and experts from the United States, Russia, Poland, Chile, Peru, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, and China are set to discuss cutting-edge issues and explore early warning solutions for global and regional disasters.

The conference will also host nearly 50 thematic sessions spanning a wide array of fields such as space physics, space exploration, space remote sensing, space optics, lunar and planetary science, space materials, space life sciences, microgravity science, and space-based gravitational wave detection. These sessions will foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between technological innovation and industrial application.

Additional activities will also feature youth academic salons, exhibitions highlighting aerospace technologies and achievements, and engaging public science lectures.

As China's leading comprehensive academic gathering in the space science domain, the China Space Science Assembly is organized every two years by the Chinese Society of Space Research
