Social media reacts after Trump snaps ‘Quiet, Piggy’at reporter on Air Force One

President Donald Trump’s decision to shut down a reporter asking about newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails, punctuated by calling her “piggy”, has unleashed a storm of online outrage, with critics accusing the president of blatant misogyny and desperation.
The clip, filmed aboard Air Force One, shows Trump snapping “Quiet! Quiet, piggy!” when the reporter pressed him on Epstein’s claim that Trump “knew about the girls.”
Within minutes of hitting X, the moment ignited an avalanche of reactions.
CNN’s Jake Tapper labeled the slur “disgusting and completely unacceptable.” Gretchen Carlson called it “degrading,” noting it echoed the kind of public humiliation women in media often endure.

Liberal commentator JoJoFromJerz blasted both the insult and the silence from the press pool, writing that “none of her colleagues defended her, that’s even worse.”
Donald Trump said “quiet piggy” to a female reporter because she dared to ask about the Epstein files, and as bad as that is, the fact that none of her colleagues defended her, is even worse.
The mockery spread quickly. Rick Wilson of The Lincoln Project posted an image quoting Trump’s “piggy” jab, while the California governor’s press office joined in with a satirical edit of Trump’s face.

Podcast host Jennifer Welch said the remark was “unbelievable,” arguing the reaction shows how little weight public misogyny still carries.

Others saw the insult as a deliberate attempt to derail questions about the Epstein files, which have sparked a political battle on Capitol Hill.
The White House attempted to defend the president, claiming the reporter had behaved “inappropriate and unprofessional” toward colleagues on the plane, a statement that only inflamed criticism online.
Across social media, the dominant sentiment remained the same: Trump’s “piggy” insult has become the latest flashpoint in the ongoing debate over his treatment of the press and his handling of questions related to Epstein.
