Sadie Sink to make West End debut as Juliet opposite Noah Jupe in Robert Icke’s Romeo & Juliet
Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe team for Robert Icke’s new Romeo & Juliet production, opening at Harold Pinter Theatre

Deadline reports that Sadie Sink, known for playing Max in Stranger Things, will make her London West End debut next spring as Juliet in a new production of Romeo & Juliet. The show will be directed by acclaimed theater maker Robert Icke and will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from March 16 to June 6, 2026.
Sink will star opposite Noah Jupe, who has been cast as Romeo. Jupe, recognized for roles in A Quiet Place and Le Mans ’66, will also be making his professional stage debut. His appearance in Chloé Zhao’s film Hamnet, where he plays Hamlet, coincides with his step into live theater.
This production marks a return to Shakespeare for Icke, who previously directed Romeo & Juliet in 2012. Producer James Bierman told Deadline that Icke aims to revisit the tragedy by examining themes of time and how the story’s rapid pace shapes its fatal ending. Bierman emphasized Icke’s interest in exploring “what might have happened” if timing had been different for the star-crossed lovers.
Sink, who began her career onstage in Broadway productions such as Annie and The Audience, has maintained close ties to theater. Earlier this year, she received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in John Proctor Is the Villain. Bierman said he was struck by her presence in that show and noted that her early workshops with Icke “grew organically” into the Romeo & Juliet casting.
The production’s creative team will include set and costume designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Tom Gibbons, and video designer Ash J. Woodward. Additional casting will be finalized as Icke returns to the UK.
Sink is currently filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for release in July 2026, and is also expected to appear in the next Avengers movie, set to film in London in 2026. Bierman said the timing of the production aligned perfectly with a short window in Sink’s schedule.
While there is speculation about a potential transfer to New York, Bierman told Deadline it is too early to predict future plans beyond the West End run.
Icke, Sink, and Jupe have already begun working through the script remotely, with full rehearsals scheduled to begin in late January.
