Protest erupts over alleged medical negligence

HYDERABAD:

The family of medical student Hasnain Zardari, who died 23 days ago after contracting dengue, staged a protest outside Hyderabad Press Club against the alleged inaction of doctors at Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

Relatives and lawyers raised slogans demanding justice, highlighting what they called the doctors' negligence. Hasnain's father, Advocate Amir Lutfi Zardari, told the media that without suspending and arresting the doctors named in the murder case, justice would remain unattainable.

He criticised the health department, stating that in most cases, officials or staff accused of serious misconduct are first suspended, followed by transparent investigations. "Instead, in our son's case, the inquiry report is being prepared by the very doctors named as suspects," he said.

Advocate Zardari added that key accused Dr Ali Akbar Dahri was transferred from his post as Medical Superintendent, allegedly enabling him to evade accountability. He further said the Health Care Commission had requested the District and Sessions Judge to exhume Hasnain's body for postmortem, which the family supports.

The family demanded that all doctors named in the case at Civil Hospital be suspended until the investigation is completed.
