Director Joseph Kosinski has revealed that discussions are underway about developing a follow-up to F1, the Brad Pitt–starrer that debuted in June and went on to become a global box-office hit. According to The Wrap and Entertainment Weekly, Kosinski shared that he has been “spit-balling” ideas with Pitt and producer Lewis Hamilton, adding that the actor has contributed some “very interesting” concepts for a possible continuation.

Kosinski noted that the film’s open-ended conclusion was intentionally designed to leave space for exploring Sonny Hayes’ future, including the possibility of shifting the character into the Baja 1000 off-road racing world. However, he emphasized that whether the sequel moves forward will largely depend on audience demand.

F1 performed strongly in theatres, earning more than USD 620 million worldwide. Due to increased fan interest, the movie even returned to select cinemas in August. As excitement builds for its upcoming OTT release, news of active talks for a sequel has further fueled anticipation among viewers.
